I think that the most important thing in pocket device is simple and intuitive UI. My idea is very simple, it's in the picture I made. I noticed that it's annoying to hold the menu buttom till multitasking section appears, especially when you are using it often. Close and minimize buttons would help quickly control programs. Then using device would be much more comfortable.

Too much like iPhone OS. I can't stand the idea of moving everything to the homescreen, which is precisely why I really don't like the iPhone. I know others will agree with me on that front as well.

There's no need for all those buttons either. The Symbian key minimizes when hit it, when you're in an application, and it does the job of your multitasking key as well. 2 functions for the price of one key. The close program key is also pointless because you could have that as an on-screen key, like it is right now. It is unfortunate that multitasking requires a long press on the Symbian key, but I'm willing to live with that. Maemo 5 does what you're looking for on that front, anyway, so I seriously doubt Symbian will implement the same thing. There needs to be some differentiation there. All the manufacturers who use Symbian just need to change the Symbian key to a Home/Main menu key, like all of Nokia's Eseries.

i actually modified my Symbian, removed almost all folders, made everything accessible on the main screen and i think its great, really gets the job done fast. i never had this "iphone" and i dont really care my phone "looks" like it or not. if its comfortable, i approve

It's not necessary about all programs in home screen. My idea is more about comfortable multitasking, 2 functions for the one key works worse, I really hate tap and hold symbian button.. Close button on the screen uses space, and in games  and etc there is no close button, u have to go in menu and etc. Psychical close button is much more simple. Symbian needs  to redesign theyr old-school OS. Changes is good..What is relly useless? call and end call buttons, it could be on screen.Sry my english is bad.

Recently the hating factor for me to not by a symbian phone is the ugly and repetitive UI of the phone ,lets change it something like the android ..no...make it even better than any other OS and make it upgradeable to phones ,atleast the ones which are high end phones starting from the nokia e75 to higher one's...

I love HTC phones because they can be modded and hacked and be played with in many ways, that is exactly why they are worth buying...so why not make symbian phones capable of being upgraded the way the user wants it to be...from the UI to anything else...so that the user wont get bored after a a few months..

i think it's time to revisit the UI and make it simpler and friendlier, i have suggested something on these lines here - http://ideas.symbian.org/Idea/View?ideaid=5039, you may have a look.

I really like the widgets system that is running on symbian S60 v5, you have to show information on the main screen, otherwise, you'll havean iPhone interface, which you have to open an app to get anything.

Tautvydas is simply providing another choice for a user interface (UI).  This is a very important and noteworthy topic.

So important that there is a focus group which is working on making improvements.

Apple is not known everywhere, just like this thread states.  Additionally, HTC, a very high-quality company is mentioned.

Apple and others are "listening" to the public and making design decisions based on what the users want.  That is MARKETING 101.

THE Symbian mobile USER INTERFACE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT.  Please, let people make suggestions and we can refine and make Symbian products stronger and better.
